How to connect your TikTok
Postato reads the comments on your TikTok videos and posts the replies you send. The TikTok account sits on the same Postato profile as your Instagram, with the same voice, the same Knowledge and the same comment types.
Before you start
- Either network first
- the first setup connects Instagram or TikTok, and you connect the other one later, on the same profile.
- Personal or Business account
- both can be connected.
- One account per profile
- each Postato profile has one TikTok account. Connecting another account on the same profile disconnects the previous one; the Instagram one does not change.
TikTok does not count as another profile in your plan. TikTok drafts come out of the same monthly drafts, and the comments read by the AI count in the same fair use of the profile.
Step by step
The Owner or an Admin of the workspace connects the account. A Member sees the connection but does not connect or disconnect it.
- At the first setup, on step 2, tap Continue with TikTok. With the profile already created, go to the profile's Settings, Connections and, on the TikTok card, tap Connect TikTok.
- Sign in to the TikTok account you want to connect, review the permissions and accept all of them. TikTok shows the app as "Postato".
- Done: Postato starts reading your videos from the last 30 days and their comments. At the first setup, you follow the reading on the next screen, and the profile takes the name of the TikTok account; from Connections, you are back in Connections.
What Postato does on TikTok
- Inbox
- the comments on your videos arrive in the same Inbox as Instagram, with the type of each one and drafts in your voice.
- Reply
- the reply goes out in public, as a reply to the comment, with your TikTok @, and can have up to 1,200 characters.
- Thank super fans
- in Audience, Super fans, Thank on someone who talks to you on TikTok sends the thank-you as a public reply to their latest comment of the period. A comment already answered gets no second thank-you.
- Hide
- the hide rules of the comment types also work on TikTok, and you can show a comment again.
- Automatic replies
- praise and emoji-only comments can be answered on their own, in public, after 20 of your replies in the type on TikTok (Instagram's do not count). Each one waits 5 minutes in the Inbox so you can undo it. The daily limit is per network, and if TikTok limits the sends Postato pauses only the TikTok replies and tells Owners and Admins, who resume them in Settings, Comment types. Story comments and your own types reply on their own on Instagram only.
- Video numbers
- on each video's page, likes, shares, saves and watch time.
What Postato does not do on TikTok
Postato does not read or reply to TikTok direct messages: DMs stay in the TikTok app. Automations are also Instagram only.
- People
- whoever talks to you on TikTok has their own card in People, with their TikTok @, apart from the same person's card on Instagram.
- Metrics
- on Summary, Posts, Hours and Conversation you pick the network at the top, and the numbers of one network are never added to the other's. On TikTok you see followers by day, counted by Postato every hour, each video's numbers (reach, views, likes, saves, shares, new followers and average watch time, when TikTok reports them), your best videos and what they have in common, and when comments arrive. Audience, when your followers are online and DM origins stay Instagram only: TikTok does not give those numbers to Postato. On TikTok's conversation cards, Postato talks about comments only.
- Home
- in Your progress, you pick Instagram or TikTok. On TikTok you see the account's followers, read every hour, new people, replies given and promises kept, counting only TikTok comments. Mentions does not show on TikTok. In Since you joined, TikTok's starting point is the day you connected it.
Disconnecting
In Settings, Connections, Disconnect makes Postato stop reading the account and revokes the access you gave the app on TikTok. What was already read stays in the workspace. If you take the access away in the TikTok app, the panel says the connection needs to be redone.
TikTok's authorization lasts one year. We let you know in the panel and by e-mail 7 days before it ends, with the link to connect again in Settings, Connections.
If something goes wrong
- TikTok did not allow the account
- TikTok does not allow some accounts for apps, for example because of the country or region. Nothing is connected.
- A permission is missing
- connect again and accept all the permissions, so Postato can read and reply to the comments.
- The account is on another profile
- a TikTok account sits on one profile only. Disconnect it from the other profile first.
- The account already used the free trial
- a TikTok account gets one free trial, as an Instagram one does. Connected to a workspace on the trial after it had the trial in another one, it stays connected, but this workspace's trial ends and the panel asks you to choose a plan.
